hey guys what's up my name is Thomas Park and welcome back to another video save some of the most popular VPN marketing tricks that you're going to have to watch out for so these are 12 tricks and let's go ahead and show you what they're doing think I should just reminder to check out VPN to your list. Com it's a collection of all my ratings on the channel and you're going to find a lots of help or information here on how to choose a VPN anyways Mac app bundles here back to the video of the popular tricks that beeping companies will do well artificially inflate their server numbers so you might want to their website and they'll be like oh we have like five thousand service for you to pick from but if you actually look at the number of service they have which is kind of kind of be a little bit tricky you'll find out that they actually don't really have as much as they make it out to be they could inflate their service use kind of fake locations and do all sorts of tricks to make you think they're you know more widespread than they actually are another marketing trick that be paying companies love to do is to make himself seem immune to spiceagencies around the world go pick some kind of obscure a shell company location like the Cayman Islands to British Virgin Islands Panama or somewhere like that and they'll say since we're based here where I'm used to all the spy agency's no one can request your data and we're perfectly safe however it turns out that just because you're outside of the five or four tonight doesn't mean you're immune to you know spy agencies out large these companies are pretty much global companies have offices all around the world and there are many cases of companies outside the five and forty nights that I've given up like purevpn for example and a lot of these companies are based in Shell locations are so Anonymous and not very transparent and make some very hard to trust would you rather trust a company who you know CEO is who's transparent you know where it is you know the specific laws there or would you rather trust an anonymous VPN company that you know nothing about you don't really know their stance or you know how much you can trust them in my opinion I would have really trust one of those companies and I don't think you really should eitherhave to watch out for is Flash sales so you may go on to a VPN website and it be like oh and 9 hours you're not going to be able to get this VPN anymore at this price however you can also look and you know past months of the same web page and you'll see that the deal is still there this is super, with a lot of the most popular VPN providers and don't fall for these flash sales you can usually get a VPN for a good price pretty much all year long and you don't have to yell feel pressured into buying a VPN at a specific time especially if there's like a flash sale to be honest I just don't really like the flash sales you should be able to get a VPN price as it is whenever you want and I think that's the best consumer-friendly model another trick that beeping comes out to do is going to buy out a popular influencer I'll go on YouTube and find someone that the Community Trust and they'll try to cut a bride their way into the platform and then sponsor this YouTuber and then get the YouTuber to make an advertisement of some kind of video telling you that you shouldtrust this VPN because they specifically use Mac app bundles here it have an entire network here of people whose sole job it is to find people to show your brand and if you put even 10% of that effort into auditing the third parties that are actually providing the services that you're shelling then I think you would have been able to perhaps avoid this entire mess in the first place because most of the YouTubers out there and people who are getting sponsored by VPN companies really know nothing about VPN They Don't Really review VPN or not cyber Security Experts and not really even that into privacy and anonymity it's just an easy way for them to cash out and make some money because it is kind of hard to make money online and these people and companies have some of the best affiliation platforms online and pretty much anyone can join them so watch out for thatanother little trick that be paying companies like to do is kind of make you think that they're fully secure by getting some kind of audit now audits are pretty good however. It's really don't have that much value unless the company that is getting audited doesn't get to pick the auditor not only that but the audit has to be spontaneous and not planned for so pretty much every single VPN company that's been audited to date has been able to plan for the audit they've kind of picked the auditor of themselves and it just honestly doesn't really mean that much for me if they are hiding something if they're doing something they shouldn't be of course they're going to know turn off that thing in there VPN company or in the database that knock out a lock or do something like that so when the auditor comes by everything looks spick-and-span as I thought it would be like if you're working at some kind of food restaurant and the food restaurant knows exactly the date that person's going to come in to inspect everything so the day that inspector comes that make the whole restaurant super clean and make sure everything's Tip-Top shape and then when the person leaves their kind of back to doing things sketchily spinning on the food and doing whatever they wantnot having proper hygiene and so on so I think that's a good analogy for VPN audits as well one canaries aren't as much of a thing as they used to be but it's also kind of another trick website might be like all we have a notice on our website and if if the FBI or some other spy agency comes in and we'll take away that notice so that way you'll know that they've been here to be honest this is really mean anything they can't be forced to keep that on their website you know so it just doesn't really mean anything cuz they could just have the notice still there even if they have them breach for me they don't know they've been breached honestly she's kind of a stupid little kind of marketing tool another popular Trickett VPN companies will do is just kind of playing the buyout review sites and not disclose it they'll put these companies and the review science kind of iron shell companies and things like this so it's really hard to prove who owns what there have been some companies cut out you know owning VPN websites and not being very diligent in kind of hiding the fact you can also find VPN review sites that are owned by VPN companies very easily cuz they're heavily byis the never say anything negative about you know the top vpns I have not only that even companies like pcmag have been bought out by J2 Global on the even are you know shirt companies with ipvanish it so some companies disclose it I'm brazenly so and that's just the kind of on my marketing chicken my opinion is well.hello Trick at VPN companies will do is inflate commissions and the prices of there a VPN some cells so that way people more sensitive eyes to advertise for it so companies like ipvanish nordvpn expressvpn purevpn cyberghost some of the most popular VPN providers all have hundred percent commission rates which means that if someone's advertising or in an affiliate for these companies are going to make a hundred percent of the first month of you know the costs so if someone buys expressvpn let's say someone cyberghost from one of my reviews and they paid like 13 bucks or something like that I would make $13 so you could see why a lot of these VPN review science and kind of people advertising vpns usually tend to make a top 5 listswill VPN that all hundred percent commission rate so that way to get to make the most money is it honest and critical review content know but it's can make them a lot of money but I think you need to watch out for is Lifetime or even three-year commitment plans VPN companies leprechaun to draw you into long-term commitment plans sometimes I'll be like oh it's only $3 a month and it turns out you actually paid up $100 up front for 3 year subscription that you can't get out of after 30 days I think this is kind of like a marketing trick it definitely is not only that sometimes you all end up paying for Lifetime subscription to a VPN company and I honestly don't recommend this either you can companies are very expensive to run and if someone has a lifetime subscription it means something is being skipped out on maybe the servers aren't really legitimate maybe they're kind of bought from fraudulent kind of use cases there's been a lot of VPN providers have kind of skipped out and bought Mixel eye peas which turned out where you know fraudulently obtained a lot of beeping Fighters did that such as kind of one example but they're your VPN planslifetime deals I just kind of marketing tricks for me you should really get up to like one month or 6 months or a year and that's after you know you like your VPN free plans as well as kind of marking chicks I think most of the free plans out there or super limited don't really work with any streaming options off and have a slower speeds or just have very limited bandwidth to use so any serious person who wants to use VPN isn't really going to be using a free VPN at most it's a good trial method or a way to see you know what the VPN looks like in terms of how works but besides that free VPN plans are not very useful at all another popular thing that VPN companies like to do is inflamed the number of reviews on Android and iOS as well as websites like trustpilot what they'll do is just going to pay a specific websites or even pay Bots and users to leave a fake you know confident good reviews so that way when customers go to the applications I'll be like oh well this is you know VPN has really good reviews from you know the Googlestore in iOS and Trust by it so it must be good well what they fail to realize is that probably most of these reviews are actually bought out you can find on trustpilot lots of VPN Services have reviews that are five stars from people who only have ever done one review it's kind of like if you go on Yelp and you go to a restaurant and has five stars from 30 people and each one of those 30 people has only ever done one review at chances are that means most of 9200 send the reviews are fake I've seen this on Yelp and it's not any different on any other review bass platforms the same thing with Amazon Amazon has been trying to crack on this for a long time with fake reviews but unfortunately iOS on the Google Play Store aren't really as good at doing this at so you're going to see a lot of fake reviews for a lot of VPN providers especially ones that are topping list they can have a 40 to 50 thousand fake reviews all 5 stars and that's how they get their traffic and it's honestly very disingenuous and quite sketchy in my opinion another popular trick running at the list is goingvpns that claim they don't log what they actually do a lot of VPN so brazenly say we don't have any logs and then you scroll down in the privacy policy in a bit ago we do collect bandwidth in connection logs and we do monitor some of the things but it's all I can on Thomas and we just get rid of it but honestly guys have a VPN has any of that stuff and means they do log and you can find vpns that don't log some my top tier weekends for example don't collect any locks and it's not entirely necessary for VPN to collect any laws that have a good VPN service no matter what some VPN services will tell you guys that those are 12 marketing tricks that you really do have to watch out for thanks for staying tuned on Tom's work reviews check out the VPN Fearless. Com to see my fully unbiased complete ranking system of free much every single VPN out there that I reviewed this year or 40 VPN providers rated by pricing application streaming compatibility and so forth let me know.
